Xiaomi has launched two TV lineups in Nepal this October: the A Pro 2026 series and the more expensive S Mini LED 2026 series. The S Mini LED starts at Rs 1,59,999 for the 55-inch and Rs 1,99,999 for the 65-inch at Xiaomi authorised stores. Since the A Pro 55-inch QLED sits at Rs 1,24,999, the real question for most buyers is simple: what does the extra Rs 35,000 actually get you? Here is the honest breakdown, with prices current as of October 20, 2026.

What Mini LED actually means

Regular LED TVs, including the A Pro 2026, light the whole panel from a shared backlight, so dark scenes end up looking grey. Mini LED divides that backlight into hundreds of independently controlled zones: 308 on the 55-inch S Mini LED, 384 on the 65-inch. Zones showing night sky can dim almost completely while a bright window in the same frame stays bright.

The results, on paper, are serious for the price:

  • 1,200 nits peak brightness with the ability to dim down to 0.0001 nits, which is why Xiaomi talks about "OLED-level" blacks
  • QD (quantum dot) colour layer covering 94% of the DCI-P3 gamut with 1.07 billion colours
  • HDR10+ and HLG support on a 4K panel with a 178-degree viewing angle

It is as close as LCD technology gets to OLED without paying OLED money. Whether the blacks truly match OLED is a claim we would want to see in person before repeating as fact.

The catches worth knowing

This is a very good television, but three details deserve a clear-eyed look before you pay:

  • 4K runs at 60Hz natively. The headline 120Hz only works in Game Boost Mode at 1080p or 1440p. If you are buying mainly for PS5 or PC gaming at 4K/120, this panel does not do it.
  • Stereo speakers, not a sound system. The dual 15W drivers (30W total) with Dolby Audio and DTS:X are plenty for daily viewing, and eARC passes clean audio to a soundbar, but do not expect cinema sound out of the box.
  • The free speaker is time-bound. Xiaomi is bundling a Sound Outdoor 30W speaker worth Rs 9,999, but the offer runs only till November 30. The 1-year full warranty plus 1-year panel warranty is the part that stays.

Google TV with the Play Store, built-in Assistant, Google Cast, Miracast, and Apple AirPlay support round out the software side. Nothing missing there.

S Mini LED vs A Pro 2026: the Rs 35,000 question

Within Xiaomi's own lineup, the A Pro 2026 55-inch gives you 4K QLED, Google TV and the same free-speaker bundle for Rs 1,24,999. What it lacks is local dimming entirely, so contrast and HDR impact are a class below.

Pay the extra Rs 35,000 for the S Mini LED if you watch in a dark room, care about movies and HDR content, or keep TVs for five-plus years and want the panel to hold up. Save the money with the A Pro if the TV mostly plays news, YouTube and daytime serials in a bright room, where local dimming matters least. For tight budgets, note that last year's A Pro 43 2025 launched much cheaper, so deals on the 2025 stock may be worth asking about in stores.

One more consideration: if you pair the TV with an external sound system later, browse our TV and appliances section and audio range when you are comparing total costs.

The bottom line

The Xiaomi TV S Mini LED 2026 is one of the strongest value TVs in Nepal right now: genuine Mini LED contrast, 1,200 nits, and proper HDR at Rs 1,59,999. Just walk in knowing the 120Hz is for gaming at lower resolutions, the speakers are merely fine, and the free speaker bundle ends November 30. If those trade-offs sit fine with you, the Rs 35,000 jump over the A Pro is money you will see on screen every evening.
