LG's DualCool kW Manager air conditioner has a useful idea behind its name: choose an electricity-use target in the ThinQ app and let the AC adjust its operation around it. For a Nepal buyer, though, two details matter more than the headline. The feature does not work in heating mode, and reaching the target does not mean the air conditioner simply stops using electricity.

We checked LG Nepal's page for PA-12JA3DE.APWGEXP against GadgetByte Nepal's coverage on October 16, 2026. This is a specification-based guide, not a hands-on test or a claim that NikoDeal stocks this model.

The Nepal price is a reference, not your installed total

GadgetByte reports Rs.1,09,490 for the one-ton DualCool kW Manager AC, against an MRP of Rs.1,28,790. Treat that as a dated published Nepal reference. Other retailers can quote different selling prices, and a product price alone does not establish what an installation will cost.

Ask for the full model on the written quote. LG Nepal lists PA-12JA3DE.APWGEXP, while local retail listings often omit the hyphen after PA. Confirm the actual indoor and outdoor units supplied, rather than choosing by the words "Dual Inverter" alone.

Before paying, ask what the quote includes: installation labour, piping length, brackets, electrical work and any extra charges that apply to your site. These are questions to settle with the installer, not services or prices we are promising here. A lower sticker price is only useful once the scope of the job is clear.

What kW Manager does

LG's Nepal product notes say the feature monitors accumulated electricity use during a selected period and limits performance, and therefore electricity consumption, for the remaining period. If daily use exceeds the plan, the remaining electricity allowance is recalculated across the remaining days.

That is a way to manage AC use toward a target. It is not a fixed electricity-bill contract. Your actual bill still depends on how you use the appliance and the tariff that applies. Do not turn an app target into a promised rupee saving when comparing models.

There is a second limit worth reading carefully. LG says that if accumulated use exceeds the target for the set period, kW Manager is released, the machine returns to general operation and ThinQ sends a notification. It is not a guaranteed hard cutoff at your chosen budget. Make sure whoever uses the AC understands what that notification means.

Heating is the important exception

The Nepal model offers cooling and heating, but LG explicitly excludes heating mode from kW Manager. The feature is available in modes such as cooling, dehumidification, sleep and jet, according to LG's product notes.

If you want this AC mainly for winter heating, do not assume its headline energy-target feature will manage that heating in the same way. Ask the seller to demonstrate the controls for the mode you expect to use most. This distinction is more useful than treating "hot and cold" and "kW Manager" as one all-season promise.

The phone app is part of the setup

LG says kW Manager is available through ThinQ only. The product page lists ThinQ Wi-Fi and energy monitoring, so ask for a demonstration of the exact unit connecting to your phone and showing the feature.

A remote-control demonstration alone does not establish that the app workflow is ready. Check the account setup, local Wi-Fi connection and where energy notifications appear before the installer leaves. LG also notes that smart features can vary by country and model. Use the Nepal model's documentation rather than a video for a similarly named overseas AC.

Lower power can mean less cooling

LG's notes for Convertible 5-in-1 cooling say some settings limit maximum power consumption to 40-80%, which can reduce cooling performance. That is a trade-off to understand, not a fault to discover later.

Have the room assessed before choosing capacity. Ask the installer to account for the room, sun exposure and intended use, then explain which operating setting is appropriate. Do not choose a smaller unit or a restricted-power setting solely because a promotional number sounds economical.

A better buying conversation

Start with the exact model, the room assessment and a complete installed quote. Then ask for three demonstrations: normal cooling, heating, and kW Manager in ThinQ. Confirm what happens when the energy target is exceeded and how you will receive the alert.

You can browse NikoDeal's current catalog for listed appliances and accessories. That link does not establish that this LG AC is stocked. Confirm the current model, quote, installation scope and written service terms before ordering.
